Blue Angels

First day of the Homecoming airshow, NAS Pensacola.

I was a little disappointed at Fat Albert. Not from the flying, but from the fact that he rarely came overhead. We are sitting behind an island with the ICW to the north of that and the airfield just beyond that. A great spot actually that many of you probably have visited as it is a great anchorage. Usually we get great views, but Fat Albert managed to keep his flying (doing things in a C130 that a C130 can't do) right over the field. In the second picture, what looks like a flag from the spreader of the sailboat, is Fat Albert on a wingtip.

The Blues at the start of the show. Diamond formation takeoff. These four did not break the diamond for 30 minutes.

More pictures. And my apologies Zone. I had resized all these but just realized I was choosing pictures from the wrong folder.

Of course, nothing like being there, and family obligations forced us to leave early, but you get the idea.

We have been lucky to see them several times in Traverse City. Last year we took the Boston Whaler down. We tow it down. We left before they were done. We had the Golden with us and she was freaking out. Ran north back up the bay. Stopped in the middle of the lake, no one around. I’m standing there peeing minding my own business, one of the Blue Angel came blasting up behind us. Guy banks sideways and turns, he is looking straight at me. Not much I could do but wave to him.

If you have not been to that anchorage Bob, you've been very close to it. Just west of Pensacola pass at Ft. McRee.

We took the boys to their home base when we stayed at Fort Walton years ago. The Air Force base in Fort Walton has a museum also. Been there a few times. The B52 setting outside the museum is the one my Cousin was flying for one of the records they broke.
