Ok I had been looking at the D600 and thinking sbout going full frame until they came out witb the D7100 now I am no the fence . The 7100 looks awful good . You got any ideas

Mike, what bodies, and lenses do you have now? I still use all 3 bodies (D70, D300, and D3S). I use the D70, and D300, for the 1.5X focal length multiplication factors in certain conditions, and the high ISO performance of the D3S can't be beat in certain conditions.

I am still using my D200. I have just about given up on Nikon coming out with a replacement for the D300.

I have a D90 now that I will keep some of my glass is 2.8 fx and some is Dx glass so jt will be a lot cheaper to stay Dx plus the 24 mg of the 7100 sure gives me a lot of room

The D600, and D7100 are both 24MP. With the D600 FX sensor, the pixel density is lower than the D7100 DX sensor. Because of this, the D600 should have better high ISO performance. Now, with pluses for the D7100, it has the high-end 51pt AF system, the D600 has a 39pt AF system. And, the D7100 is cheaper than the D600.

Thanks! Some have said the D7000 was the replacement for the D300, and now there is the D7100.

I have had a D600 for a month or so. I had the D5100 prior. I have been very happy with the D600 other than the auto focus points were more spread out.

There are a few pros here that have picked up a D7100 and are using them more then their pro bodies. One has 2 D800's and he is selling one and says he is not sure if he will keep the other , He also has a D700 and a D4. The D7100 also has the ability to crop to 2 which takes a 300mm and makes it a 600mm and i think it is still a 15mg pic. Also this camera is like the D800e in that it does not soften up the pics. The people i have talked to seem to like that even better as the pics are sharper right out of the camera. My luck as soon as i get it they will come out with a replacement for the D300.

The D7100 is a great camera. I still prefer my D700 though. Through the view finder the D700 I don't feel like I'm missing the action. When I was using a D300 I liked the crop factor, but the view through the camera was dark and much smaller. The D7100 is much better.

The D5100 only has 11 AF points, the D600 has 39.

Correct. Even though the D600 has 39 points, they are grouped in a tighter group than I would like. It leaves a lot of space around the edge of the frame that doesn't have any focus points.

That's the biggest complaint i am seeing about the D600 that the 39 points are way to tight.
