includes a two-speed, automatic hydraulic transmission

First thing I thought about was the old "Powerglide" transmission.

A 565 weighs 1200 pounds vs the egg beaters 1300. I know the IO also has an outline and associated hardware but the outboard also has hardware and is positioned further back. It would be interesting to see a 565 vs the new 600hp outboard.

565 dressed is way less than that, so I’d guess that includes the outdrive stuff too.
Edit in: Did I just repeat what you said ? Lol.

Apples to apples .

Merc 600sci 1267 lbs, MSRP $58,000 VS the v12 1260 lbs, MRSP $77,000.

I will say tho, still some cool tech that they sammiched a v12 into a outboard.

Yes the 600 sci and the new OB 600 would be an interesting match up and $19,000 difference would buy a some gas.
