Inside SOTW Mag: Boyne Thunder Bulls-Eye

For the 16th year in a row, the Boyne Thunder Poker Run proved why it is one of high-performance boating's most enduring events. Check out the feature in the latest Speed On The Water digital magazine.

We are very lucky to have such beautiful waters and harbors. I started volunteering the 2nd year of Boyne Thunder. This picture is my cousin’s daughter Kristen. She had childhood leukemia, she was one of the first children that were part of Camp Quality. The camp started at a church camp called Park of the Pines in Boyne City. Before Boyne Thunder I gave children rides in my Father’s old cars. First time I pulled up to the Camp and had children with IV’s get in the car I was blown away. Kristen is marriage with three children and thank god cancer free. I just like to remind all the great people who come to Boyne Thunder what they help to support.

The camp is now held at Lake Ann just south of here. Challenge Mountain was added as one of our charities also a few years into Boyne Thunder. They operate a old ski hill Evert Kircher (Boyne Mt.) donated. They removed the ski lifts. My Father’s good friend rebuilt a old Tucker (groomer) to give children rides. They help children with handicaps to enjoy outside activities. Two great charities. Sorry to repeat myself. I just like to remind our supporters what they help to support.
