Thumbs up Only endless RIPPLES of sand as you peer down through the water...

Ambusher---thanks for posting the shots of my boat!

Sutphen---Those pictures of me and my boat were just taken last Wedsenday on 9/17/03. Steve/Rampage and his wife took the shots from the digital camera as we headed down to Warren Dunes State Park----and that is what you see in the background of a couple of those pictures. Usually, Warren Dunes (also known as "Tower Hill") is a very large state park/beach and camping grounds. Warren Dunes is about 15 miles or so north of the Michigan/Indiana border on Lake Michigan. Because of its size, many people from Chicago and Indiana go there for a more of a scenic, secluded area. That is what the West shoreline of Michigan offers----nice sandy beaches and BIG sand dunes.

During the time of these pictures, it is evident that the park is not busy at the time---but during the summer it gets PACKED with THOUSANDS of people! I ALWAYS love to run my boat down to Warren Dunes during the summer and find one of the sandbars (when you look down you nothing but endless ripples in the sandy bottom 15-20 feet down---no weeds!) just outside of the posted swimming area, toss the anchor and go swimming while looking up to the sand dunes. You can swim ashore and use the consessions or othe facillities! It is AWESOME and it is one of my favorite boat hang outs.

If you want to find me on Lake Michigan you will usually find me somewhere down there between a place called Grand Mere Dunes and Warren Dunes. Grand Mere is about 3.5 or so miles north up the shoreline from Warren Dunes and is just as beautiful as Warren Dunes with HUGE sand dunes only Grand Mere you have to walk/hike from your car about 1/3 of a mile to reach the beach which pretty much makes the beach more of a secluded setting----hardly anyone goes there except for boaters.

I'm sure there are several other nice views for boaters up along Michigan's Shoreline--- I usually like to boat out of St. Joseph (where I usually launch my boat), and Grand Mere and Warren Dunes are roughly about 10-13 miles south of the St. Joseph harbor/jetty, and these are the spots where you will most likely find me chilling out with my boat.

Sutphen30,

Sorry if I made it sound like an island. It's definenately NOT an island! Grand Mere and Warren Dunes are part of Michigan's southwestern shoreline----something like 15 miles or so north of the Michigan/Indiana borderline.

And YES, it can get pretty nasty out there as far as wave conditions go. You can't always park by the beach and toss an anchor if it is rough out----you can only make a beach/picnic day of it when it is calm out---just depends on the weather and which way the winds are blowing on any given day.

BTW, in the picture of me and my boat sitting in the water in front of Warren Dunes, I hope you guys realize that I am SITTING on top of my bolster seat----not standing inside of my boat. I had e-mailed a friend (female) some of the same pictures, and she wrote back and told me that I was too tall for my boat! :D :D I told her not to worry, and I explained to her that Active Thunder's have lots of freeboard.
