Gate was leaning- didn't set good enough with the freezing temps. It is not concreted in, too hard to move when that is done.

That red dirt/clay stuff is "bank run". Already thinking need blue stone going out to the gate- bank run is nasty stuff and gets red dirt all over every thing when I get out to unlock the gate.

Living room!

Yes, waiting for Spring for electric, once that is done then looking at insulation and heating options.

Lot of unanswered questions on what to do with the barn- may do some living space on the left side which is why the one side has the porch and so many windows or may do living space on 2nd floor which is why it was built the way it was with 2nd floor support. Then again, if ever built a house down there it is kind of overkill to have so much money wrapped up in a "barn".

Propane- quick warm up like standing by a fire

Kero/diesel- warms building but have to run generator, either the Honda or the Briggs (back right of red jet flame). Honda is a lot quieter but it is not on wheels and I'm kind of lazy. I use kero since it cleans burner and doesn't stink. I run this when down there for a few hours vs just stopping by.

clarify the temp reading, the 34 is current temp in barn and 15 is the recall temp (how cold it has been). Little confusing since it says "inside" and "outside" but I was on recall when I snapped the pic.

15 inside- need insulation and heat and so on but good for now.

Yea, I've been thinking about that...

It looks fuller than it really is and a lot of the stuff is an easy move. Move the tractors, 4 wheelers, boat and few other things out, move stuff in to the middle and insulate. I didn't put the big shelves against the wall so could insulate behind them, didn't want too much weight on the edge of new concrete, allows me to walk behind them to get access to things and so on.

Good point though- I hate doing double work and would have been nice to insulate before moving any thing in.

Jeff- are you cutting relief joints? We did, and dust was all over the place! We concreted after the barn was up so dealt with "inside rain" while the concrete cured. That was kind of a PITA.

yes on the relief joints........... concrete is going to crack so when you saw it you give it a place to crack where you want it to.

WHAT....I never paid alot of attention to this thread but these are the people I'm considering using for my building. Would you recommend them again, any issues?

YES!! Very good work ethic. All I expect is one to do what they said they are going to do within the time line they say at the price they say. They did all of this, with some challenging weather at times on top of that.

Very few issues:

1- side door was dented which made the frame not line up. They pointed it out, installed it for the time being while they ordered another one. Once it showed up, they came back and installed it on my schedule.

2- shudders were the wrong size, too small. They ordered the correct ones, installed them when they did the door.

If I had a complaint, it would be the little metal scraps laying around from when they cut/trimmed. They did all the cutting/trimming in one spot so I know where to be careful at but still. Those shavings are pretty sharp and a PITA. I'd say I could fill a 5 gallon bucket once, not a ton and not sure the fix action either. Just saying and really if that is the only complaint, not bad!

Small world. My wife and mother in law are going out to show houses to a guy that works for CB Structers. We are looking into getting a building built. Looks like they do nice work.
