i too had filter problems,port tach would bounce all around.dump filter out and shake it.engine would run fin for 15miles or so.made for a semi long day.

I too had a filter issue with the secondary filter and had to idle from Portsmouth across Bay to Fall River.

I had a great time on this run. Had some of my own mechanical gremlins. The smartcraft scan will tell me how bad tomorrow. Luckily I was able to complete the run.

its actually a bay and the funnest part was just before entering warwick cove.between the cruiser akes and general sea conditions we got some good air.all be it 65mph thru there helped.
as for the filters,they must of got ethonal jelly in them,bad winterization,forgot to drain them and fill w/ marval mystery oil.my covers bvlack so i'm thinking the new gas helped the chit grow badly in a week.boat ran perfectly the first weekend out.

In my case, filter was self inflicated problem with new installation and over using too much anti- seize on all the aluminum fittings.
