Mike I'm using a Canon 7D. I alternated between the 100-400 IS f4-5.6 and 70-200 IS f2.8.

oh ok for some reason i thought you shot Nikon do you find tht 100-400 plenty fast enough to shot the boats? Were you in the park on the rocks for a lot of these

I think it is fast enough; not as fast as the 2.8 but the image quality is just as good and the extra 200mm can't be beat sometimes.
