Turbine Outage

Nothing other than the Unit 3 refueling outage. I dont know when Keowee has another scheduled outage. Think they just had a big ne a few months ago if im not mistaken.

I have 3 outages going on right now and only have 4 techs! 107 hrs two weeks ago and 55 hrs by thursday last week. I think it calmed down this week only had one breakdown call yesterday afternoon.

I worked 7, 20 hour days for a 140 hour week when a tornado hit my town 10 years ago. I just did the math and if I had that kind of loot rolling in for one week in todays money I would be just below a Dentist paycheck!

Yes but it took me a few days to recharge my battery's. I hear ya on the Dentis t paycheck!

Yea the NRC makes sure we dont get those kinda hours anymore. We are limited to a 54hr rolling average. How the hell they came up with 54hrs when we work 12hr days is beyond me. lol

I'll stick to Fossil fuel and hydro respectfully. They have 16 hr max unless........ lol but Its heading are way also. When you have a wound rotor motor fail on the critical path outage crane you do what you got to do.

Some pics of rebuilding waterwalls and ram table during annual outage. It's not a glamorous job but it pays the bills. old cut out waterwall sections. Where the wall once was. Ram table being replaced. Reciprocating grates in the furnace. Upper header where I had to fit my fat ass for inspections.

Nuclear? How many MW? My company used to own Maine Yankee 860 MW nuclear. Because of the cost to repair cracked steam tubes and constant pubic opposition it's now a gravel field with storage silos for the spent fuel and armed guards.

Do you have to do any field welding, to make things fit?
To state it another way, do you have the people in the field, to make it work?
It's easy to drop a bolt through a flange, .....................
I know with BIM/AutoCAD, you shouldn't, but I also know we don't live in a perfect world.
Looking at the welds at the reducer, on that SS..........it was machine made.
