My Panther went low/mid 70's with 502/500's on TRS and it tended to porpoise if not trimmed right. It was fun for a while but as I got older I needed a smoother ride. I've been in some rough water in that boat, I felt it flex and waffle the hull a bunch of times... One time in particular I broke a bulkhead, spraned my wrist on the throttle, broke a cabinet and had the radio shoot out of the wall....that was by far some of the roughest water we encountered... Once we rounded the corner from the Ocean to the bay it was the only time I ever thanked god we made it back. I slowed the boat down and checked for water leaks to make sure we weren't sinking.... My Panther taught me a valuable lesson; my next boat wouldn't be a production based boat. |

Mine was great. no problems!!! it ran 96 to 98mph anytime with 850's XZ bravos with imco -2 shorties..best i ever saw was 102mph... it did not have a porpoise problem at all.... that could be the diffferance between the trs and bravos... the boat had carbed 502's in it when i got it it ran in the low 70's.. i sold it with 502 mpis and it ran in the middle 70's with that power..

I remember one time running down the ocean with a flat deck top gun on a somewhat rough day.... The flat deck had SSM#3's with 598" NA motors (750 each). I guess I had more balls cause he couldn't shake me... He got a head of me but he couldn't pull on me... It was balls to the wall for about 10-15 minutes in a 4-5ft. following sea. My right arm got a work out... We got to the tip of the hook and slowed down. The guys in the Cig had kind of a weird grin on their faces... They yelled over; "We saw your props the whole time." Then they paused for a second or two and said; "Boat runs good". I knew it was pissing them off... |
