4 minute ride in a blown alcohol v-drive lake boat

Shot this earlier this year. Just a ride back to the ramp with my son. Started it and let it warm up. Shut it off put it in gear and make a couple of passes.

Driving and holding the camera so be gentle on the feedback. made it small so the file sixe is not too huge.

I can see opening a can of worms here.

Generally the same engine will go a bit faster in a v-drive. One thing everyone needs to realize. It takes a ton of HP to go 100 MPH in any boat regardless of what drive it has.

Not sure what you mean about the prop.

Infomaniac I have a left over blower motor out of my scarab that dynoed on pump gas at 828hp.I figured I could up grade some on the motor and get some more out of it, if needed? I am thinking of buying a tunnel hull like a Texas tunnel to put the motor in . most of the ones I have seen have been jets. what would be the speed diff between the 2 boats.I have heard the jets arnt efficient.

on the v drive do you change the props like a out drive boat to gain speeds?.

where would be a good place to shop for these kind of boats?

Thanks for the info
Rob

Rob,

Generally you change gears on a v-drive. Then only if you are racing different length drag strips or change something on the engine.

A v-drive tunnel boat is very rare. It is the best of both worlds. Bullet proof effecient drive and takes rollers like they do not exist.

They are not cheap if you do find one. Especially a Cougar. They are not cheap boats regardless of what drive.

Check your PM.

Hey man, your son's face says it all. Pure juice!!!Next time, I personally would like to see a nice 5 or 6 second pass on smoother water at full throttle...what was that by the way? Looked/sounded to be around 7500rpm? How fast? 120mph? !30mph? Any way, you really kicked the $ $ $ $ out of my winter doldroms!!!
