Didn't see this to respond.

The plan is to make a huge A frame to hoist engines out of boats. My builder had a lead on a 2 post car lift from a garage and asked if I wanted it. Although I said no he thought it would go for about $600.....then I said hell ya! Turns out it sold before we could get it but if another one comes up around that price Im buying.

Spent some more time laying block, finished block actually.

Lesson one, When you put mortar between blocks all weekend you can steal whatever you want.....cause you will not have finger prints for a couple days!!! (last weekend)

This weekend I thought I would wise up and wear some thin cheap cloth gloves so the concrete wouldn't get on my skin and then I could throw out the gloves.

Lesson two, Mortar will eventually penetrate cloth gloves, get all over your finger tips, then dry........literally cementing the cloth glove to your finger tips. What's worse is not realizing it and pulling quite hard to remove the gloves.......and a good chunk of meat off your finger tip at the same time.

Typing this brings up lesson three: Typing with band-aids on your finger tips is extremely difficult!!!!! (I'm correcting more characters than I got right the first time)

Question, how or did you tie into the existing block? Is it even required?

Don't know if it's required since I didn't tell the county
The block is really just a retaining wall to hold the rock back and protect the bottom area from the elements. I'm going to use 6x6's down through the block to support the structure and suppport the walls/roof. The addition will be vinyl sided/shingled just like the rest of the garage. The block is not tied into the wall at all, if I was going much higher or using it as structure I would have.
