Mark, if you leave that flash on will the battery go dead?
Couldn't resist.

Here's mine

00 F250 with V10 Getting close to 35k miles. My next truck will be an F550 or larger. Hope to keep this one 10 years or so, then retire it in the pole barn. It doesn't see winter, so it should still be bling'n for a long time.

How do you like the 2000 V-10? what mileage do you get towing or not? I have a guy trying trade me a 2000 V-10 Excursion for my truck. How much does your boat weigh?
Thanks for any information.

Tempest.
The boat weighed 11,000 lbs on the scales. I think I'm right around 18,000 total.

I love the truck. I went to Ohio this year and mileage on flat ground driving 55 mph (IN toll road/Ohio turnpike) was 12. We went to Traverse City last week and I averaged 9 because it's very hilly and hit 70 for a lot of the trip on highways, plus we did a lot of city driving.

Not towing I average around 12 (city/highway combined). It has 3.73 gears though, if you got 4:10 (or 4:30 for Ford, can't remember), it'll be worse.

I bought the V-10 because my dad has a 99 Powerstroke dually and he was getting 10 mpg towing his car trailer that's around 8,000 lbs loaded. So I thought "I can do that with a v-10 and save $4k on a motor and oil changes, etc.".

My only complaint is the small fuel tank with the short bed. My range is a little over 225 miles towing. (I don't like to run it below 1/8th) If I buy an F-550 someday, it'll be diesel with at least 90 gal capacity. Since one of my main fears about diesel is FINDING GAS when on a trip in a strange area. I borrowed my dad's truck to pick up the Fountain and had that problem. With the v-10, I can pull ito my favorite station and fuel the boat a truck at once on two pumps. I like that.

We had the same problem. Chevy 1-ton dually short bed, with a 454. We only got about 180 miles, safely, on a tank. So we bought a 50 gallon fuel cell for the bed. Only lost about 11 inches of space, but added over 400 miles of range.
