Thanks Mike! I used a 105mm f/2.8 VR on my D300, and a 24 70mm f/2.8 on my D3S. I don't buy anything but Nikon lenses, no aftermarket lenses.

I've always been interested in photography. My wife bought me my first 35mm SLR (a Minolta) about 30 years ago. I got my first DSLR in 2005, a Nikon D70.
Nikon offers some great digital photography classes, which I attended several
years ago:

But, once you understand the basic concepts of exposure, DOF, and focus, I would say practice, practice, practice.
