Something to look into, look at an aftermarket hitch like Titan or B&W and compare it to the factory hitch. I think you will see a big difference. I changed out my hitch to a B&W on a previous tow vehicle, and the difference was night and day. The B&W was 1000 times the hitch of the factory. The factory is generous with their ratings. Also some of the aftermarket units have larger receiver tubes and receivers /mounts increasing capacity. I have bent and tweaked a few off the shelf receivers/mounts with the sport chassis and weights hauled.

I'm a firm believer in having the equipment capacity be well over the weights being towed. Most all of my receivers or mounts I use for heavy towing have been custom made and the ball mounts I use are typically for gooseneck applications and have 35-40,000 pound ratings. I had a local iron and steel works company custom fabricate and weld up some of my set ups and they have used steel typically used in building and bridge construction. No such thing as being too heavy duty IMHO. Peace of mind.....

In comparing trucks.... I have towed with a gmc 3500, went to a kodiak for a short time, then went to the sport chassis. Night and day difference all over with the sport chassis. I'm close to if not a tad over 40,000 pounds combined with my rig when fully loaded. No issues pulling, stopping etc. I limit my tow speeds to 65mph or less to be safe.

I traded this in for the F-650 because it had issues pulling my 36 Nor-tech at 70 MPH. I towed a 42' 5th wheel tow hauler several times with it and the Nor-tech locally with no issues but was uncomfortable at speed with the boat behind it.I think the cat was lifting the tongue weight off causing it to get loose. With the GMC I looked through the tunnel with the rear view mirror in the F-650 I see the deck and windshield. I loved the GMC but was going to order a white one anyway (black is beautiful but hate keeping it clean).

My insurance company informed me while explaining that I had to get commercial insurance because of GVW that my new to me truck was the "Offshoreonly truck". That place is like an ex wife and now I have 1 of its children.......should I file for support?
