Yeah I've seen them... claims like that make a guy really think about trying a blackhawk out again! You ran what- like 85 with 4 onboard and stock power back when you test drove it, right?

I might end up trying a -2 merc sporty lower this season and see where that gets me- know a guy that has one at a reasonable price. The stock bravo is killin me.. I figure maybe try the sporty, and eventually an imco -3 if it feels like it should come up more.

I remember talking to JC when i was looking at the boat & his response was "that F*&^ing thing we could never get a big enough prop for the blackhawk to see what it would really do" he believed it would run over a 100 with the right prop.... what i liked most was the Blackhawk ran straight as an arrow... no wheel torque... no chine walk.. it really was like a torpedo.... The boat had a higher then standard X dimension if I remember right? have you tried a cleaver style prop on it?

About the closest I've gotten to a cleaver is a 28P Bravo I tried at the Cesars Creek shootout... it ran really high and light in the water, no chine that I really noticed... but small wakes would really knock it around while trimmed way out. That action pic over on page 1 was taken at the shootout.

The X is about right for the blackhawk, I think... propshaft is around 7" below the bottom with the stock bravo (too low, imo).

I was wrong about the X dim... I was thinking about this last night and went outback to the shop to have a look... just eyeballing it- somwhere around 5"-5.5" below the bottom with the stock bravo lower.

632cu in and I've heard its making mid or upper 800s without and somwhere north of 1100 with it- if I remember right.. its been a while. Probably around a 300-400 shot..
That boat of his is dialed in for shootouts.. handles really well at speed. (he was running 103 when he went by me)
