I was at a horse show in Saint Paul this weekend and the car show was sharing the grounds. I didn't have a camera so used my cell phone and alot of pics got cut off.

We used to go to the Street Machine Nationals when they were held at the Southern Illinois State Fairground near Carbondale, IL. It was a blast for years and a lot of high profile builders debuted some of their first rides at that show. Troy Trepainer, Foose, Boyd Coddington debuted some killer rides there through the years. Was a lot of fun, but the street racing and after hours stuff got the show run out of town in '01 or '02. It has bounced around since. Looks like they found a nice place in St. Paul to have it.

Hey! That first Firebird pic, the dark blue one with the white stripe, that belongs to an old friend of mine, Art.

It's actually a '75, but he put that 70-73 front-end on it and added the t-tops from a 79-81 model. I spent lot's of time about 10 years ago at his place helping him with little things on that car. He painted that car himself (he's an old body shop guy) and he's had a hand on probably every decent Firebird or TA body in the Twin Cities area (including mine).

I had an '80 Firebird that went from turd, to nice street car, to mid 10 sec. drag car. Went to the Car Craft show each year with it back in the mid to late 90's. Got married in '03 and left Minnesota for bigger and brighter things. Sold the car shortly before we left.
