Arrow Lake Murray Rally - May 10th

LAKE MURRAY / SOUTH CAROLINA

The 2008 Lake Murray Rally
Just announced: 2008's event will be held on Saturday May 10th!!!
Formerly known as the Lake Murray Poker Run, the Lake Murray Rally is hosted by the Chapin Optimist Club. This years event is expected to draw a large number of boaters from surrounding areas and states due to the water levels of Lake Murray. Details will be posted on www.lakemurraypowerboats.com as soon as we receive them.

As with all Poker Runs and Rally's, we encourage everyone to pay special attention to saftey, making certain that USCG requirements be met by all boats, and that we all operate our boats in a safe manner. I would suggest that everyone involved in any event wear a PFD during the rally.

I'm in...

If I have a 100 mph boat that now runs 42 mph, should I need a PFD?

J/K lol

Hotel & Lake House Rental Info

The Hyatt Place in Irmo is offering a special group rate for the Lake Murray Rally. The hotel is very nice and one of the few that can actually handle the boats and parking.

http://columbiaharbison.place.hyatt....servations.jsp

Take a look at the photos of the hotel. This all-Suite hotel provides guests with amenities such as kitchenettes with microwaves and refrigerators, complimentary continental breakfast, fitness room and pool. All rooms all have 42" plasma flat screens, there is a Starbuck Coffee in the hotel, free Wi-Fi, 24 Hour food service, Cafe' and Lounge. The hotel is definitely the best in the area and closest to the lake. I'm certain that you'll be pleased. They are offering a special $109 per night group rate for the Lake Murray Rally. They will be providing a link that will allow you to book your reservation and receive the discount. I'll post the link shortly. If you call to make a reservation, YOU MUST SAY THAT YOU ARE WITH THE LAKE MURRAY RALLY TO GET THE DISCOUNT.

I have to say a few words about the Lake Murray Poker Run. I tried to get info last year from the people that put it on and it was like pulling teeth. We have great water and the lake is beautiful however they don't have a run like we are used to having. The run is certainly for a good cause, but it seems to be geared more towards bikes than boats. To get a card, you have to dock your boat, and walk up to the marina to get a card. The stops are for both motorcycles and boats and it's been that way for years.

I'll be glad to pass along the info on dates but you should be aware of the card stop details before you make the trip. We will make the run because it's our lake however it's not like most runs.

I really dont care about the cards ... Just want to boat and get to see all the BF's ...... I hear its a nice place and a short run from Jax ......Also now that I think about it ....seems it was not advertised as a PR and just a rally ....

It will certainly be a fun weekend and the lake is great. We will definitely have a crowd and the raft-up will be great. I'll pass along the dates when I hear something.

Lake Murray is mine and Hollie's favorite lake. The water is absolutely the cleanest lake water I have been in. When you get out of the water you feel like you have been in water softener water.

Lee,
Keep me posted with the dates. We had a great time last year, and hope to make it an annual affair.
Who needs cards anyway????? I watched yours fly out of your boat last year. We tried to find them ,but too many eggbeaters behind you . I guess it sucks to be fast sometimes.
Thanks,
Ricky
