Daaannng so does this mean the OHC/DOHC Modular Ford guys get to play since the OHV LS Chevy guys made their way in? Assuming they're the modular ford engines, which by the way are physically freaking huge compared to a standard sbc.. Crazy how they cram those inside those outboards! Wonder whos going to be the first one to strap an Eaton M112 blower off of a 03-04 cobra onto one lol (again, assuming theyre the modular ford engines)

Going by the 4.6DOHC v-8 I originally thought the same....but.....they are saying Merc is making all their own stuff and the big thing is the following pic that caught my eye and from here there is no way that super wide azz Ford 4.6 DOHC could fit in this narrow engine cover

the naturally aspirated, 4.6L V-8 four-stroke engines share Mercury Racing’s venerable Quad Cam Four Valve (QC4v) stern-drive DNA—complete with aluminum four-valve cylinder heads and dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) valve train,” a Mercury Racing press release stated. “The four valve heads and DOHC valve train is integrated with Mercury’s proprietary V-8 cylinder block

Yup. Better shot. If like the Ford, that fukr is like 4ft wide...would have to be tilted on it's side. LOL.

Either way - 4 valve heads on a V8 are large. Then again, on Merc's 1100/1350's etc, they the heads are not super wide...so........I'm guessing this is why they mention these engines in the design of this one.

Also remember Merc designed and has a 4 valve LS head !

Hmmmmm,

I guess we'll see.

They actually sound pretty good in the “R” and “Pro XS” trims. Be cool to hear one with an offshore mid. Might convert me to an outboard guy!!!
