How to post pictures UPDATED!!!

I have been asked by several people how to post pictures on the board. Here it is in several steps. Any questions, feel free to email or PM me.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

1. The picture must be 1 meg in size or LESS. I suggest it be in JPEG format, as BMP's get too large in size. A 1024 x 768 jpg picture will work fine, and be well below the size limits/

2. Most digital cameras that are set to higher resolutions take jpg's that are way way beyond 1 meg in size. So in most case they need to be resized down. As I said, 1024 x 768 is a good size, as the board automatically will size it down below that.

3. Microsoft has some FREE software that will do the resizing for you. See the link in the announcement on all the forums.

TO POST:

1. either start a new thread or reply to a current one. you can not use the quick reply.

2. You must type something in the message box. numbers or letters are best. if you use the same number or letter, it will erase the prior one. IOW, if you post 100 pictures, always using "A" as the message, you will end up with only 1 picture.

3. Under the Message Box, you will see a button labeled "manage attachnments" Click on it

4. You will now get a pop up window with 5 lines with "browse" by each of them. You are allowed to post 5 attachements with each post.

5. Click on the Browse button, which will bring up a list of directories/files off your computer.

6. Find the picture that you want to upload on your computer, and double cllick it. Its name will appear in the box. If you want to add more pictures, use the other 3 boxes and select the pictures that you want.

7. Once you have selected which pictures you want, click on the "upload" button. as long as the picture is within the size limits I listed above, you will see the file names listed under the boxes as having been uploaded. If the pictures a too big, either size or dimensions, you will see an error above the boxes.

8. Close the window that you did the upload in, and then click on "Submit reply", or if its a new thread, click on "Submit new thread"

Thats it. 99% of the people that have problems posting pictures have them, because the picture is too big in dimensions. You can post a picture that is bigger than 1024x768 in size. as the board does resize pictures. BUT if the pictures are huge, the server will time you out and you get to start over again. If you try and post 5 pictures that are 10 mp camera pictures, you WILL get timed out.

Any questions, feel free to email or PM me.

are you coming tomorrow or are you guys going else ware, I found some more pics with PAULS and your boat and mine they were in another sleeve:oops, I just found it. next time we go out what ever boat I am in you guys should pass so that the sun is behind me so when I take a pic the sun will be my flash and the pics will be awesome. the new camera body and lens will be close to 2,000 grand but the will have a image stabilizer with f3.5 and a f4 stops zooms will be 17 to 85 for close ups at the dock that means the whole boat will fit in the pic and a 70 to 300 zoom or 80 to 400 zoom thats more cash with the built in I.S. man that adds a lot to a lens 150% more:eek:. and the new body will be 15mp instead of the 8 I have now. the video camcorder I just had fixed is a NEW HD model, I bought it broken for 250.00 you could still use it put the door to change the tape would stick so I sent it out for 250 and got it fixed. it sold for 1300.00 new and since it was the last one and the floor model I got it for 250.00 with a 100.00 bat free, 20.00 tape. its cool has a CARL ZEISS VARIO-SONNAR T* LENS, I was told by the repair shop and others the lens was worth 1000.00 if you bought one to add on a camcorder. so for 500.00 its worth it. I did some video last year from the AT looking at a cig heading down to newport from warwick 2nd stop last years run. so I will bring it tomorrow unless everyone backs out. SO who is running sunday art

Click
'post reply' then go advanced, then click on the manage attachments, then choose the pic from your files, then click upload, then click the file that has just been uploaded and open that. You should see the pic you want to post. Now copy that pic and close the window. Now paste that in the reply box and you should be all set. Hit submit reply and the pic is posted.
