Harsh reality created by much more than COVID-19, https://www.speedonthewater.com/what-really-killed-evinrude/.
So BRP has been working on ‘Project Ghost’ which i provided links and photos (renditions actually that didn’t show the iunit itself) ) somewhere else here and from BRP’s investor documents. Basically outboard propulsion that can be hidden under swim decks /pontoon decks / etc.
Well, just ran into this spy photo:

Based upon BRP's snowmobile line of four strokes I find it very difficult to believe they could not match Mercury's four stroke line up..... if they had wanted to!

I'm guessing much of the engine is now below the waterline. Unless they have some magic seal that can allow the engine to opened and closed easily for maintenance by the end-user and still be watertight, good luck. Sounds like a recipe for tons of warranty work that could eventually sink them.
Def want a few redundant bilge pumps in there:)
Will be interesting how well these stay sealed for sure.
Like most new things, i’d hold iff 2-3 yrs of buying after introducrion.
Looks remarkably familiar....
Okay, found some of my posts on this subject. Here’s one:
Okay, so looks like Evinrudes new technology is nicknamed ‘ghost’ for now until they unveil it a little later. Here is some material they are dropping around.
Q: Will you keep the doors open to produce Evinrude engines again someday?
BRP: “We are re-orienting our marine strategy and concentrating our efforts on next generation engine technology, publicly known as Project Ghost, our boat business and other marine projects where we see a lot of potential to transform the on-water experience for consumers. We have no plan to bring back the production of outboard engines E-TEC and E-TEC G2.”
