Well the weather could not have been nicer this year for the Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run.
We arrived mid day Friday and the wind was strong, it was white capping off the point at Bernard's Landing and a little cool for the party Friday night at Mango's, but man did we wake up to a beautiful day Saturday and Sunday!
This was saturday morning looking out our condo where the mountain range comes together at the dam.

Friday night at the party at Mango's.
You have to watch the guy in the middle, he likes to "SPANK" it.

The fastest boats there!!!!!
These guys were neck and neck around the point at Bernard's Landing with the helicopter right on them. I wish I had got a shot, it was awesome!

They did not have a helicopter last year, but they made up for it this year by having two!
They had one chasing the boats doing a very good job, he went so far and came back and picked up another group and so on where everyone could get good coverage.
Then they had one to hover near the dam at 2:30 PM and you could make a run by it and get some really good still photos.
I think the did a real good job with the helicopters.

Well you never know who you are going to run into. Bill & Sheri were there from LKN. They have a 29 Outlaw.
This was Sheri & Tommie together, but the light was behind them.

Nice pictures.
Hopefully we will have good weather this coming weekend at Hartwell. So far 3 boats coming from Knoxville, 2 from NC, 4 from SC, and 2 from GA that's the ones I know of. Plus all the Hartwell locals, so it should be a good run. See you there.

We are really looking forward to it Jeff. Thanks for handling all the slip and restaurant reservation's.
Did you count Albert Haynesworth in the above with the 42 Fountain. I cannot wait to meet him in person.
At 6'6" and 320 lbs I don't think anyone will be telling Tennessee Titan jokes!
Hope we can get him down to Jacksonville.

Great pictures Doc. It was good to see you & Tommy. We had a blast, but would have more fun running with you. Next time for sure. If you ever want to come back up to SML, our boat slip should be completed by then. You are always welcome.

Thanks Jim, great to see you and the wife also. I really like the lake up there, it is becoming one of my favorite. We will sure take you up on the offer.
One question for you or Swede. With the Virginia law stating that you must have a switchable exhaust device, will I catch much hell up there or worse get a fine? I know they turn their heads during the poker run.

Will (MWDILL) has posted before on this. I guess the key is if you have baffels. Either internal or external rubber ones. That's the only thing I was told. I think their biggest crack down is on the guys running dry pipes. I have not heard of any problems out there.

Ain't Skeered, Ive been in racing for a long time and believe me if anyone knows that I do and I also think that you took that in the wrong demeanor. I think that if you look at the posts you will see that someone else brought up the subject?
