There is a new place on the lake we are going to be talking too about being part of the weekend. If everything works out rooms, boat slips, meetings, parties, the whole deal will be in one spot. Worst case we run it just like we have in the past and folks can rent houses on the lake or stay at one of the two hotels that give us discounts for the run. The parties, meeting ect will be just as they have been if we cant strike a deal with the new spot. I will update the website and forums as we begin to work out the details. All that aside, we are looking forward to our 4th year and a great run.

I spoke with Steve M. (Roostertails & Cocktails) last evening about this run and think I'm going to drag my junk south for this weekend... It looks to be exactly 8 hour pull from my office in Northern Virginia to Lake Murray SC.. Not exactly around the corner but not hateful either!!!
I will see as we get closer to the date to confirm!! Be nice to get some fresh water on the Cig!!

Don't want to wait too long, any update on this new Hotel so I can book rooms?
Let me know, if not can someone tell me where to rent these cabins so we are near the action?
Thanks Pat

Havent met with the new place yet, we have been jumping through hoops to make DNR happy so we can get the permit approved. Heres a link to cabin, and homes on the lake for rent and a hotel we can get group rates at. The hotel is not on the water, only about a 10 min ride though. Sorry for the hold up but we have just had some issues with some of the changes. I will update as soon as I can.

I sorry for the poker run site being down, I know a few folks have been trying to get accommodations info. The site is back up but still being updated. If anyone needs anything please feel free to send me a msg. The dates an accommodations on the site are correct. We are going to update the stops and lake map after changes are final. Friday will still be the Beach raft up and party, Saturday will still have the Boat Drags. We are changing a couple stops and may be moving the Friday night and Saturday night parties to a new marina. We are trying to improve and make the run bigger and better while also keeping our local DNR happy. Thanks for every ones patients and again my apologies for any confusion.

DILLIGAF posted on FB that the new Liberty Restaurant and Marina is hosting the event and I saw they are advertising for help so looks like it will definitely be opened for this year. I'm not sure about availability of lodging there, but Mike will be posting more here I'm sure. Looking forward to seeing all of you T Lake Murray.

Website has been updated some, we have printable registration forms up,our new sponsors are on the site, link to last years pics, and some general information on the meetings/ awards parties. We will have aerial pictures again this year and the drag boat races after lunch. New host on board for the parties is allowing much more dock space for folks to show off their boats. We will do one more update to the site as soon as I get some answers on a couple things I want to add.

Im sure with our new host on board and with all the docking it will make for a great time for all just walking the docks checking out the hardware.

Has anybody asked if that Marina Bay will do a weekend rental? It looks like they are rental apartments anyway.
I'll probably just stay at the Hyatt again.

This is always one hell of a good time. We haven't missed it the past couple years and if my rig is ready in time we'll be there again this year. At this point, I'm probably annoying the piss out of Mark Rinda to have my motors done in time, but it sounds like we may be cutting it close. Brockman, I'll keep you posted if we're gonna be ready if you & Jenny still want to ride along.

They are not as of a month ago. We have a meeting coming up with them just to walk through some things,I will check on it. There is still some construction going on so I wouldnt bet on it, that may change when complete. I was hoping they would so folks could just walk to the parties. It would be nice to have a resort with vacation rentals like that on Murray.

Some chitty rental property we got last year, they took our deposit because they mis-advertised the place as having a ramp. (and a dock, but thats another story) When we got there you could hardly drive a jon boat trailer down the ramp...we tried anyway, and put ruts in the mud, (no concrete) so they charged us for it. :wall_smiley:

Man, that sucks. I hate false adverts.
So, is there overnight dock space for rent? A search doesn't show anything, we are going to be burning hotel points - get a little extra benefit from work trips :)

Yes slips can be rented. Call Marina Bay and ask for Corey( the guy that runs the docks) tell him you are with the poker run and want to rent a slip for the weekend.

Is the boat ramp at Marina Bay / Liberty suitable for a 53 foot trailer?
DILLIGAF
04-28-2013, 06:45 PM
John, that ramp is not open to the public but we have made arrangements for your trailer and bus if your bringing it. Jacob or myself will be giving you a call first of the week. Those renting slips I would recommend using Lighthouse Marina ( is pretty much accross the cove from Marina bay) that way you can drop your trailer in there lot like the past two years. Marina bay has no trailer parking, again the ramp is not public.
DILLIGAF
04-28-2013, 06:47 PM
Lighthouse Marina will also have slips to rent. Any questions just hit me up. Changing host marinas is a pain but will make for a better time and more docking.

We will give out an updated version of a map of the lake with updated coordinates at the Capt meeting. We moved on stop is the reason for the updated map/ coordinates. This will give you 95% of what you need.
Lake Murray is truly the jewel of South Carolina and has become a major recreation destination. It boasts 649 miles of shoreline covering an area of 78 square miles. The lake is 41 miles long and 14 miles wide at its widest point and is enjoyed by thousands of people every week. The map below has many of the weekends locations marked, we will also be adding GPS coordinates in the next few days.

This is from the event organizer:
Just to be clear ALL the poker run events are still in effect! The 93.5 skip day has been moved, but the poker run skip day will happen weather permitting. It looks as if the rain will move out by that morning/afternoon. If not the party will be at Liberty's followed by the Captains meeting, registration and party that night. Saturday's weather looks good, partly sunny with a 20% chance on isolated shower. Hope to see everyone tomorrow.
