Looking to put together a Sonic Only Poker Run- 1st Annual Sonic Owners Poker Run & Rally 2012.
There is already high interest and responses from owners from posting on other sites.
Sonic is in as a sponsor.
I am looking for impute and interest to see about doing this. Have to start planning and scheduling now to have the time to put it together. Need 30-50 boats minimum to make this viable/feasible as currently planned. More boats would be better. More boats cuts the individual entry costs and also provides the needed capital to fund this event as planned.
Plan is for a 3 day event. Actual interest and participation would determine the participant entry cost, event duration and actual fruition of the event. Providing notice now also allows for budgeting the costs and expenses for the participants to be part of this event next boating season The economy is down, but we shouldn’t let it stop us from doing certain boating related events with the proper planning and budgeting.
Intention- To gather all the Sonic owners for an annual run, promote the brand, Put names and faces together- meet other owners and see the boats they have, what they have done to them/ideas for upgrades, etc. Intend to hopefully have at least 5 sponsors.
Participant Entry costs are dependent upon any sponsor contributions and potential Sonic owner entrant interest. Shooting for $300 range to a $400 max Captains Package, and $75.00 Crew Package cost.
Location- Middle & Southern Chesapeake Bay. Approx 150-170 mile round trip run.
When: June/July/August 2012- Dependent upon venue availability and coordination of the stops/accommodations. Date will be set dependent upon the locations having mutual open dates.
Plan & Overview: 3 Day Event- Mostly an open bay run, with a few inland rivers. Helicopter Pics & Video of event.
Friday- Mid Afternoon, Middle Bay Meet & Greet, Evening kick Off Party. Potential site has Dock Bar, Marina, Pool, and Live Band. Overnight -2 Hotels within walking distance and shuttle svc available. Restaurant on site along with food/drinks at the dock bar/start location. Launch Ramp & Parking at the start point. Additionally 2 state parks within a 15-20 min boat ride to the start point.
Saturday- Poker Run Kick off
-Captains meeting. Draw 1st Card/s
-Stop 2- Historic Annapolis Harbor/Naval Academy, boat parade thru the Harbor and Famous Ego Alley- Draw Second Card. Head South as a pack for next stop. Approx hour ride on the open bay. Helicopter shots/pictures/video of the run.
-Stop 3- Lunch Stop: Band, Pool and Beach Party. Draw Card 3. Head for Stop 4/Overnight Spot, 20 min ride.
-Stop 4- Overnight Stop- Hotel & Marina w/Pool. Indoor Private Party on site in the evening with Catered/buffet dinner,
Live Band: Well known famous, nationally toured 80’s Rock Band- already talked with them, they are in if we do this.
Sunday- Continental Breakfast
-Short captains meeting, leave to return North to original start point for pool party, lunch cookout, bikini contest, draw the final card, reading of the hands, payouts for best hand, second best, and worse hand. Bikini contest winner payout.
Participant Financial Responsibilities:- Captain package would cover captain and mate, 2 event t-shirts, 1 poker hand. DVD of the run/event weekend. All inclusive for the lunch/dinner and finale party meals. Continental breakfast is compliments of the hotel Sunday morning.
- Crew Package would cover the lunch/dinner and finale party meals. Continental breakfast is compliments of the hotel.
- Additional Poker Hands $50.00
- Additional T- Shirts $25.00-$30.00
- Accommodation/overnight costs are the responsibility of the participant/s. Blocks of rooms would be reserved with preferential pricing. Usually in the $120-$140.00 per night range. Will attempt to arrange for free or discounted dockage for the boats. Sometimes it’s possible to get free or discounted rate for a large group.
- Your travel, fuel & other costs.
